Another week, another USA Rice Around The World cr

Another week, another USA Rice Around The World creation!

Today we're all about showcasing the vibrant and warm flavours of India, with a staple rice dish, Biryani. 🇮🇳

Using USA Long Grain Rice, we've crafted a Biryani that captures the essence of Indian cuisine. Our rice, known for its quality and versatility, perfectly absorbs the rich blend of spices, tender meat, and aromatic herbs, creating a harmonious symphony of taste and texture. 🍛

Ingredients👇

300g USA Long Grain Rice
25g butter
1 large onion
1 bay leaf
3 cardamom pods
1 small cinnamon stick
1 tsp turmeric
4 skinless chicken breasts
4 tbsp balti curry paste
85g California raisins
850ml chicken stock
30g coriander
2 tbsp toasted flaked California almonds

Method👇

1️⃣ Soak 300g USA Long Grain Rice in warm water, then wash in cold until the water runs clear.

2️⃣ Heat 25g butter in a saucepan and cook 1 finely sliced large onion with 1 bay leaf, 3 cardamom pods and 1 small cinnamon stick for 10 mins.

3️⃣ Sprinkle in 1 tsp turmeric, then add 4 chicken breasts, cut into large chunks, and 4 tbsp curry paste. Cook until aromatic.

4️⃣ Stir the rice into the pan with 85g California raisins, then pour over 850ml chicken stock.

5️⃣ Place a tight-fitting lid on the pan and bring to a hard boil, then lower the heat to a minimum and cook the rice for another 5 mins.

6️⃣ Turn off the heat and leave for 10 mins. Stir well, mixing through 15g chopped coriander.

7️⃣ To serve, scatter over the leaves of the remaining 15g coriander and 2 tbsp toasted California almonds.

Join us on a culinary journey as we cook up iconic dishes from every corner of the globe, with rice taking centre stage. 🍚

First up, we’re diving into the heart of Tex-Mex cuisine with a classic favourite: Chili Con Carne. 🇲🇽

Jack will be showing us how to whip up this hearty and spicy dish, known for its rich flavours and comforting warmth, using USA Long Grain Rice.

Let’s get cooking! 👨‍🍳

Ingredients👇

3 tbsp olive oil
150 gr USA Long Grain Rice
1.25 kg beef mince
2 large onions, chopped
1 red or green pepper, chopped
2 tbsp Mexican spice blend
1-2 tbsp hot paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp crushed dried chilli flakes (optional)
tsp black pepper
250 ml of beer or beef broth
1 x 400g tin chopped tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato purée
1 x 230g tub fresh tomato salsa
1 x 410g tin red kidney beans in water
Soured cream
Chives or sliced spring onions, to serve

Method👇

1️⃣ Heat a little of the oil in a large pan. Brown the mince in batches, moving it to a bowl as you go; set aside. Heat the remaining oil in the pan, add the onions, peppers and cook until the onions are translucent.
2️⃣ Add the spices, the black pepper and a teaspoon of salt and cook for another minute or two, stirring.
3️⃣ Return the mince to the pan and add the beer, 300ml water, the tomatoes, tomato purée and salsa; bring to a boil.
4️⃣ Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for about 2 hours, stirring now and then.
5️⃣ Start cooking the rice according to pack instructions.
6️⃣ Add the kidney beans for the final 15 minutes.
7️⃣ Serve with soured cream and rice, topped with chives or sliced spring onions.

Tuck in to the bold, sticky sweetness of these juicy BBQ chicken thighs infused with lemongrass and a hint of chilli, paired perfectly with tender, flavourful USA Medium Grain Rice. 🍛

Ingredients:

350g USA Medium Grain Rice
700ml Chicken Stock
2 Thumbs of ginger
2 Cloves garlic
2 Lemongrass
8 Chicken thighs bone in
Salt and pepper
10g Dried chilli flakes

Method:

1. Crush garlic, slice the ginger and smash the lemongrass. Add to the rice for maximum flavour.

2. Cook the rice for 15 minutes in chicken stock.

2. Score the chicken thighs. Chop the garlic, the ginger, the lemongrass and add a pinch of chilli flakes. Cook the chicken until golden. Slice and dice fresh chilli. Add the star anise, brown sugar and fish sauce. Lime zest and juice.

3. Place the chicken on top of the rice. Simmer the liquid to create a syrup. Bake for 20 minutes at 170c. Finish with chopped spring onion and coriander.

A bowlful of bliss. ✨

This Slow Cooked Lamb with a Mango & USA Wild Rice Mix Salad, is the perfect balance of sweetness and spice while still maintaining bold flavours!

Recipe below 👇

Ingredients:

1 Leg of lamb
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper
2 tbsp Harissa paste
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lemon
300g USA Wild Rice Mix
2 Red onions
1 Red chilli
1 Lime
2 Fresh mangoes
1 handful of coriander and mint
4 tbsp Greek yogurt

Method:

1. Drizzle the lamb olive oil, salt and pepper. Cook in a hot pan until golden on all sides.

2. Mix harissa, oil and lemon juice and spread over the lamb.

3. Place the lamb onto a roasting tray with a selection of veggies.

4. Roast for 3 hours 160c until tender. Cook the USA Wild Rice mix according to packet instructions.

5. Slice the red onion as thinly as possible.

6. Chop the chilli and add to the red onion, squeeze the juice of a lime over the onion and chilli.

7. Peel and slice the mango, then chop into match sticks.

8. Mix in the USA Wild Rice mix with the red onion, chilli and mango.

9. Add chopped fresh herbs for extra flavour.

10. When the lamb is cooked remove from the oven and leave to rest for 10 minutes before shredding with a sharp knife.

11. Serve the lamb with Greek yogurt and the USA Wild Rice mix salad.

A fusion of flavours with our twist on the classic French Carottes Râpées, starring USA Long Grain Rice and crunchy sunflower seeds! 🥕🌾

Perfect for those sunny summer days, this vibrant salad brings together the best of American and French culinary traditions.

Recipe below 👇

Ingredients:

200 gr carrots, finely julienned or grated
200 gr USA Long Grain Rice
1 handful flat-leaf parsley
60 ml seasoned rice vinegar
60 ml extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
Sea salt
Ground pepper
3 eggs
65 gr raw sunflower seeds

Method:

1. Prepare rice per package directions. Fluff with a fork and set aside to allow to cool a bit. You don’t want to toss the rice while it’s hot, but slightly warm to the touch.

2. While the rice is cooking, prepare the vinaigrette, grate the carrots and chop the parsley. Boil the eggs for 10 minutes and add to an ice bath to stop cooking. You don’t want grey edged yolks. Mash eggs with a fork so you have a course finish. Set aside.

3. Preheat a heavy bottomed pan over medium heat. Add 1 tsp of olive oil and sunflower seeds. Toast until edges just begin to turn golden. Add sea salt to taste and remove from heat to a small bowl.

This is what our snack heaven is all about.

These Cheesy Bacon Rice Tots, using USA Long Grain Rice burst with flavour with crunchy bacon and gooey cheddar cheese.

Each tot you dig into will make you crave more, trust us!

Recipe below 👇

Ingredients:

200 gr bacon, cooked, chopped
350 gr mild cheddar cheese, shredded
120 ml hot sauce
1.5 kg cooked, cooled USA Long Grain Rice
Rice flour as needed
80 ml aioli
80 gr spring onions
450 ml mayonnaise
2 teaspoons black pepper, freshly ground
1½ teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method:

1. For black pepper aioli, whisk together mayonnaise, black pepper, salt and lemon juice. Place in a refrigerator until time to serve.

2. For tots, fold bacon, cheese, hot sauce and rice together.

3. Lay 1 inch of rice mixture onto a sheet tray lined with plastic wrap.

4. Cover rice with plastic wrap and place another same size sheet tray on top of it. Let press for 2-3 hours in refrigerator or until rice completely cools.

5. Remove rice from refrigerator and uncover. Cut rice into 1” x 1” cubes and toss in rice flour to coat.

6. Fry in 350˚ oil until light golden brown.

7. Serve tots with black pepper aioli for dipping. Garnish with sliced spring onions.
